I was delighted by your appreciation of Robert Bateman, and his abstract compositions. He has been much maligned, and not appreciated for his incredible design sense, combined with his technical ability and knowledge of wildlife. In my own painting, I am pushing myself more and more toward pure design in my representational pieces, and seeking and sometimes finding very personal 'iconic' images that resonate with me in a very personal way.
