I am going to glaze my finished painting with egg white. Apparently this lasts forever and is transparent.

I am experimenting on canvas with diy egg tempera, verdgris pigment ( made from suspending copper wire from redundant tv cable over wine vinegar in a sealed jar), oil paint and some gold leaf. The paintings are abstract and inspired by connecting the ancient with the modern - with an open mind as to how they will turn out ... Either I will be thrilled, or horrified to end up with a dog's breakfast!
