Hello!!! I'm interested to use gold leafs in my oil paintings and I have some questions.... In background: can I use black acrylic paint, water based adhesive, stick the gold leafs,overpaint them with oil colors and then varnish them?
In the painting: After painting with oil color, should I wait to dry and then use oil based adhesive, stick the gold leafs and then varnish them?

I read in a comment above that I can mix 50/50 gloss and matte varnish, but I should shake the matte varnish first...Am I right??
